Sr. Lucy of Fatima said, “There is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.” Come join our family!

We meet together on the last Sunday of every month at 3pm at St. Mary’s Church for a Holy Hour where we pray the Rosary and spend time in Eucharistic Adoration.

What is the Living Rosary?

The Living Rosary Association is a spiritual organisation, which was founded by Pauline Jaricot in France during the 19th Century. The primary aim of its members is to recite a specified decade of the Rosary each day. It is organised into groups or circles. Each circle consists of 20 people. The obligation of each member of the circle is to recite a specified decade of the Holy Rosary each day. In this way the group collectively prays the complete 20 decades of the Rosary each day.  All the members thus share in the graces associated with this whole spiritual undertaking.

Our Lady of Fatima said: “Say the rosary every day to obtain peace for the world.” We know that many demands are made on our time these days. The Living Rosary allows those whose time is limited to share its spiritual benefits. The purpose of the Living Rosary is to unite the parish in this very powerful form of prayer.

Guidelines for the Rosary Circle

The purpose of a Perpetual Rosary Group is to ask Our Lady’s intersession to bring Faith, Love and Peace in the world. The more people that pray, the stronger the voice.

The Rosary Circle is comprised of individuals each praying a decade of the rosary privately each day, anytime and anywhere. Everyone is welcome to join whether you are new to the rosary or currently praying the rosary daily. Members can come from St. Mary’s Parish or other Parishes.

When people join, they will receive a Rosary Booklet. A new circle is started when it reaches 20 members.  Each member in each circle is assigned one decade of the rosary in order that all 20 mysteries are covered each day. Each person prays the same mystery all month. On the First Day of each month, the member prays the next Rosary assigned in their booklet, so that each member now has a different decade of the rosary to say.

After all 20 mysteries in your booklet have been completed you are asked to make a recommitment.

Commitment

• Each person commits to praying one decade of the Holy Rosary each day. The decade means: meditation on the Mystery and recite one Our Father, ten Hail Mary’s and one Glory Be.

• The mystery assigned is recited privately, at any time of the day or night, and in any place – no need to gather in a group.

• Members are also asked to pray for the intentions of the month: for peace, for those who have passed away, and for the intentions of our parishioners.

• If each member prays their specific decade each day, then the whole group (circle) completes a rosary for the day. The goal of each group is to complete their rosary as well as pray for intentions. In the Living Rosary there is unity between the members of the group and intercession for one another throughout the week. Each member says only one and the same mystery each month, but the Blessed Virgin is honored with the beautiful gift one complete Rosary from the group each day.

• The daily recitation of the one mystery does not prevent a member from saying as many more as they chose.  Failure to recite the decade through neglect or forgetfulness is not sinful, since the obligation does not bind in conscience. Fidelity in such small practices, however, when motivated by great love of Mary, draws down blessings from heaven.

• SPREAD THE DEVOTION:  bring in new members! Mary has promised special graces to those who share the Rosary devotion. “For each salutation of Mary,” says St. Bernard, “you will receive a grace from her.”  NEW MEMBERS will receive their own Rosary Booklet.

Holy Hour

On the last Sunday of the month, Rosary Circle members are asked to gather with parishioners to pray the Rosary together and to spend time in Eucharistic Adoration.

It is one hour once a month to leave our busy lives and to feed our spirit and soul, to be inspired, strengthened and renewed, so that the challenges of life are not too heavy.

Pope John Paul II said:

“Prayer of Adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament unites the faithful with the Paschal Mystery. It enables them to share in Christ the sacrifice of which the Eucharist is the permanent sacrament.”

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen explained:

“The purpose of the Holy Hour is to encourage deep personal encounter with Christ. The holy and glorious God is constantly inviting us to come to Him, to hold converse with Him, to ask for such things as we need and to experience what a blessing there is in fellowship with Him”.

Eucharistic Adoration is time spent in common and private prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. We adore and honor the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. As Catholics, we believe that Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist. During Holy Hour, we come together to pray. We come in gratitude for the blessings that we have been given. We pray for peace in the world. We pray for vocations to the priesthood, religious life and for our own spiritual development. We especially pray for the intentions of the members in their Rosary Circle, for those present and for parishioners.
